Jihlavsko - Leisure time activities

There are plenty of leisure time activities in Jihlava region. You can pick from many different sport activities, martial art classes or dance classes or you can enjoy various cultural events. Jihlava offers something for everyone.

Sport

Jihlava offers wide spectrum of sport activities. You can visit different sport centres, playgrounds and gyms. Many local and some long distance bicycling trails go through Jihlavsko as well. In winter, you can pick from couple of ski areas. Jihlava also offers various dance and martial art classes.

For swimming we recommend Indoor Swimming Pool Evžena Rošického, in summer you can go swimming to one of the outdoor natural swimming palces or outdoor pool in Luka nad Jihlavou.

TOURISM / BICYKLING

Lovers of hiking and bicycling will definitely enjoy Jihlavsko. 

Klub českých turistů Vysočina maintaines couple of bicycling trails in Jihlavsko. They are marked with the yellow symbols of bicycle with the number of the trail and distance mark. They are placed the same way as traffic signs, by intersections or turns.  

Important international bicycling trails going through Jihlava:

Slavonice – Telč – Třešť – Jihlava – Polná – Hlinsko. Trail is a part of  Českomoravská trasa starting in Jeseník through Hlinsko in Bohemia, Přibyslav, Jihlava, Třešť, Telč and Třeboň to České Budějovice and it is the longest trail here – 365 km.

  • Jihlava – Třebíč – Raabs goes to Czech – Austrian border and it is a part of international trails 
  • Track Jihlava – Český Těšín  goes  through Třebíč – Brno – Zlín – Vsetín – Nový Jičín – Frýdek Místek – Český Těšín, the lenght is  349 km. This long distance trail is put together with many local trails and doesn’t have its own number.

Do you feel like skating? You can try one of many natural ice rinks or one of the ice rink arenas with hours for public.

Culture 

Jihlava is full of cultural activities. Apart from proffesional theatre Horácké divadlo  and Theatre for children BOBO  you can find alternative Theatre  De Facto Mimo or  Divadlo T.E.J.P there. Divadlo na Kopečku resides in Psychiatric hospital which regularly provides space for various amateur theatres. Another interesting project is Divadlo DIOD offering the black box so it can present different projects. 

Local art gallery will show life and work of Gustav Mahler (House of Gustava Mahlera), city history and the history of art from the 19th century to the present day. Some art galleries focus on young artists (for example Gallery Půda, Gallery Ján Šmok’s) or handicapped artists (Gallery “Umění s handicapem”, Bez obav). Specific place takes the traditional sale gallery M&K Galerie.

 Multikino Cinestar  is located in the City Park Mall. Kino Dukla is located in a beautiful historic building close to the square at Jan Masaryk St. You can visit Cinema art club and Center of documentary  there. International festival of documentary Jihlava is a big event for documentary fans annually hosted by Jihlava.

In Jihlava, there is a lot of various entertainment places to visit.

An Event called  Prázdniny v Telči is hold in beautiful town Telč in the middle of summer.

Filedtrips in Jihlavsko will show you how to brew beer, how to make  home-made chocolate, or what  organic farm looks like.
